Eligibility Criteria
🎓 Educational Qualification
To be eligible, you must:
- Hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Law (LL.B.) — either from a 3-year or 5-year integrated program — from a university recognised by the Bar Council of India.
- Final-year law students (5th year of 5-yr course or 3rd year of 3-yr course) can apply provided they can produce proof of passing the
- degree before joining the assignment if selected.
Age Limit
- Minimum: 20 years
- Maximum: 32 years (as of 07 February 2026)
💼 Selection Process
The selection happens in three phases:
1. Objective Test (MCQs): Test of legal understanding and application.
2. Descriptive Written Test: Assesses writing skills, legal reasoning and analysis.
3. Interview: Final personal evaluation. (
💰 Application Fee
- ₹750/- (Non-refundable) + applicable bank charges.
- Payment must be made online only via the official gateway (UCO Bank).
💸 Remuneration and Job Nature
- Consolidated monthly stipend: ₹1,00,000/-
- The assignment is purely contractual and full-time.
- No right to regular employment/continuation is conferred by this engagement.
- While engaged, a Law Clerk cannot take any other assignment or practice as an advocate.
Role & Responsibilities
Law Clerks are expected to assist the Supreme Court by:
- Conducting legal research on cases.
- Drafting summaries, notes and memos for judges.
- Preparing materials to aid in judicial decision-making.
